Conservative Christian Organization Sued for Failing to Report Sex Abuse Allegations

Five women have filed a suit alleging that the pro-homeschooling organization known as the Christian Institute in Basic Life Principles willfully concealed sexual abuse taking place within its programs. So reports The Washington Post.

The plaintiffs in the suit allege that IBLP, its employees, and directors often received sexual abuse reports from victims as young as 13 years but IBLP never reported the potentially criminal allegations to law enforcement authorities or to the Illinois Department of Children & Family Services as state law requires.

IBLP is the institution that runs the training center where Josh Duggar of the reality TV show “19 Kids and Counting” was sent when he admitted to having committed sexual abuse as a teen. Last year, the organization’s founder and president, Bill Gothard, resigned amid allegations that he had sexually harassed dozens of women.
