Man Fired for Farting Too Much: Lawsuit

Richard Clem was harassed and ultimately fired for farting too much at his job as comptroller, a New Jersey-based pork roll company. So reports The New York Post.

Richard and his wife, Louann Clem, who also worked at the company, filed a lawsuit against New Jersey-based Case Pork Roll Co.

Richard Clem, 70, had gastric bypass surgery in 2010 to slim down from his hefty 420 pounds. Following the surgery, he struggled with “extreme gas and uncontrollable diarrhea” that caused him to have to “sit on a toilet 24 hours a day,” according to the lawsuit.

Thomas Dolan, the president of Case, allegedly said Clem’s farts were “bothering customers” and replacing the smell of pork rolling. Dolan filed a report with the EEOC and fired Richard Clem. Louann quit the same day. Clem is seeking $250,000, which he says is equivalent to two years’ salary and three weeks of vacation.
