Thirty-nine year old Chad Ian Lieberman filed the lawsuit last year. The claim sought to tear down the adjacent apartment building, which Lieberman claims illegally prevents light and air from entering three rooms of his New York City pad.
The judge deciding the case held that Lieberman’s grandfather had legally agreed to the conditions caused by the neighboring apartment building when he accepted a decrease in the rent from $687 a month to $100 a month in 1997. Now the landlord is trying to increase the rent by claiming the deal was meant only for Lieberman’s grandfather.
