Paula Dow, a case in which six same sex couples alleged that New Jersey's civil union designation violates their civil rights. The decision made New Jersey's Superior Court the first court in the country to strike down a ban on same sex marriage based on the U.S. Supreme Court's recent rejection of the Defense of Marriage Act.
