New State Law Renders Hiring Discrimination Suit Against Texas A&M Moot  

A federal judge threw out a discrimination lawsuit filed against Texas A&M University in the wake of a recently passed state law that rendered the suit moot. So reports the Texas Tribune.

taxes amThe lawsuit alleged a faculty fellowship program discriminated against Asian and white male candidates, but a newly passed law prohibiting race and other characteristics from being used in hiring decisions at state schools prompted U.S. District Judge Charles Eskridge to throw out the case. The lawsuit was initially brought by white professor Richard Lowery of the University of Texas at Austin.
