Newsom Signs Laws to Make Calif. Residential Development Easier  

Two new California laws were signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom to address vacant commercial space unlikely to be used as digital shopping continues to trend up. So reports the Associated Press.

california 2798001 640 smallThe laws aim to allow developers to use that land for housing and “prevent revenue-hungry local governments from stopping them.” The measures were pushed by affordable housing advocates who argued those empty commercial lots would be ideal for apartments due to their vicinity to high-population areas and ample parking.
