Court Erupts When Judge Rules Tulsa Race Massacre Suit Can Move Ahead

Tulsa County District Court Judge Caroline Wall ruled a lawsuit looking to deliver reparations for the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre will be able to proceed. So reports the Associated Press.

gavel 3577254 1920The lawsuit was brought on behalf of Viola Fletcher, 107, Lessie Benningfield Randle, 107 and Hughes Van Ellis, 101. The suit was brought under Oklahoma’s public nuisance law, which alleges the “actions of the white mob that killed hundreds of Black residents and destroyed what had been the nation’s most prosperous Black business district continue to affect the city today.”
