Ice Cube’s Infringement Case Against Robinhood Melts with Federal Ruling

A California judge dismissed a lawsuit brought by Ice Cube after he accused stock trading platform Robinhood of improperly using his likeness to promote its products. So reports Yahoo! Finance.

RobinhoodThe rap star sued Robinhood for allegedly “damaging his reputation and violating trademark law” by using his image and offering a take on his lyrics without his consent in its weekly newsletter. At the heart of the matter is whether or not a newsletter can be classified as an instrument of advertising, which courts have generally held they are not.
