Douglas was said to have pretended to represent Helen Lurene Elias during a series of meetings with her cohorts; the plan was to convince Elias’s friends to loan her hundreds of thousands of dollars to be recuperated, with extra for them later, until a (bogus) pending legal settlement was closed. Elias spent time in prison for running a similar scheme from 2010 to 2013 in which she managed to bilk her pals for approximately $300,000.
