Austin Mask Mandate Heading Toward Legal Challenge from Texas AG

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is threatening legal action if the city of Austin doesn’t lift its mask mandate and business restrictions. So reports The Hill.

Greg Abbott said he is aiming for a full reopen of the state and he has asked county judges—who serve a similar role as county executives do in other places—to oversee the need for any COVID-19 related restrictions. “Those judges can impose new restrictions only if cases have been rising in their jurisdictions for a straight week,” reads the article.
