Villanova Law Dean Who Stressed Inclusion, Precision Dead At 90 from Heart Failure

J. Willard O’Brien, former dean and leading voice for inclusiveness at Villanova University’s law school, has died from heart failure—he was 90 years old. So reports the Philadelphia Inquirer.

villO’Brien was known for his work lowering the law school’s student-to-faculty ratio, increasing pay and prioritizing the hiring of females and individuals of color to teaching positions. O’Brien held a bachelor’s degree from Fordham University and served as an Air Force intelligence officer. He received his law degree from Fordham Law School in 1957.
