Okla. Looks to Close Budget Holes with Opioid Settlement Money

Oklahoma lawmakers are planning to use opioid settlement funds to plug upcoming budget gaps in what would be the first actions taken with money from the Opioid Lawsuit Settlement Fund. So reports The Oklahoman.

drug 1674890 640smallA budget proposal from the Legislature calls for the allocation of nearly $30 million from the fund, which includes money from Oklahoma’s settlements with Teva Pharmaceuticals USA and Endo Pharmaceuticals, the article reads. The money will be divided among several agencies and used for “opioid abatement,” although some lawmakers said there were questions if the language in the appropriation bill effectively guarantees the money would be used solely for that purpose.
