Teacher Sues School for Mistreatment During Lockdown Drill

East Quogue Elementary School teacher Christine Capozzola is suing the town of Southampton and the school district she works for, among others, after she claims she was mistreated during a lockdown drill. So reports Newsday.

Capozzola alleges she was asked to play the "pretend perpetrator" and act as if she was a mother involved in a custody battle with her spouse. Despite assurances she would not be touched, Capozzola said three police officers "brutally and violently" threw her to the ground and treated her as if the drill was a real emergency.

Her attorney said she will seek at least $150,000 in damages "for excessive use of force, false imprisonment, false arrest and due process violations." It is unclear if the officers who responded to the drill were aware the incident was staged.
