Summer Zervos, a former contestant on The Apprentice, alleges Trump tarnished her reputation when he denied acts he boasted about during his infamous hot mic recording with Billy Bush. Zervos also said Trump made inappropriate advances on her, which the President denies.
In 1994, then President Bill Clinton’s lawyers argued, in only the most exceptional cases, lawsuits involving the President should be deferred until the President is no longer in office. That case was prompted by a woman who filed a sexual harassment suit against Clinton.
The Supreme Court ruled a president “can’t escape private litigation.” However Trump’s lawyers argued the “crucial threshold issue was raised, but not decided,” in the Clinton case.
