Justice Dept., AT&T Hammering LA Dodgers Channel Collusion Settlement  

AT&T is negotiating a settlement with the U.S. Justice Department amid allegations DirecTV colluded with other television providers to block the Los Angeles Dodgers channel in parts of California. So reports the LA Times.

However, an anonymous source unauthorized to speak publically about the deal said the proposed settlement would not require AT&T or DirecTV to carry SportsNet LA. The government alleges DirecTV’s chief content officer, Dan York, colluded with other carriers to ensure other pay-TV companies would follow suit and not carry the Dodgers’ channel.

AT&T is in the process of an $85-billion takeover of Time Warner Inc., which could serve as incentive to settle the outstanding legal issue.
