Bronx Serial Bride Pleads Guilty to Felony Fraud Charge

A Bronx woman who has had 10 husbands in 11 years pleaded guilty to felony fraud charges after participating in an alleged immigration scam. So reports The New York Daily News.

Liana Barrientos admitted she lied when she claimed her 2010 marriage to Salle Keita was the first time she had been wed. Barrientos had nine other marriages to foreign-born men who filed citizenship paperwork shortly after the weddings.

She will be required to complete a rehab program instead of prison, the judge said, but a positive drug test or another arrest will land her in jail for up to four years. One of the men she married was a Pakistani man deported for making threatening statements against the U.S. She took $2,000 from another man to help acquire a green card.
