Liana Barrientos admitted she lied when she claimed her 2010 marriage to Salle Keita was the first time she had been wed. Barrientos had nine other marriages to foreign-born men who filed citizenship paperwork shortly after the weddings.
She will be required to complete a rehab program instead of prison, the judge said, but a positive drug test or another arrest will land her in jail for up to four years. One of the men she married was a Pakistani man deported for making threatening statements against the U.S. She took $2,000 from another man to help acquire a green card.
