Law Professor: Big Law Bonus Plans Are ‘Sin' of the Profession

At many of the nation’s biggest law firms, too much of the associate bonus plan hinges on the billable hour, an NYU law school professor opines. So reports Bloomberg BNA.

The professor, Stephen Gillers, offered his opinion in reaction to a leaked memo revealing last year’s associate bonus plan at Sheppard Mullin Richter & Hampton. Gillers says bonus plans should reward associates for creativity and efficiency as well as the number of hours they billed.
