Ex-Judge Admits He Reduced Verdict in Exchange for Campaign Contribution

A former Arkansas judge is facing three years in prison for allowing a nursing home’s contribution to his political campaign to influence his decision to reduce a negligence verdict against that business by several million dollars. So reports Arkansas Business.

The former judge, Michael A. Maggio, had been hearing post-trial motions in the case against the nursing home when he announced his intention to run for the Arkansas Court of Appeals. He has pleaded guilty to bribery charges.
