Man Who Became Dad Via Turkey Baster Entitled to Parental Rights: Court

The Virginia Court of Appeals held that a man is entitled to parental rights over his biological child despite the fact that the child’s mother used a turkey baster to impregnate herself with the man’s sperm. So reports CNN.

The child’s mother, Joyce Bruce, tried to deny the man, Robert Boardwine, visitatillon based on a Virginia law providing a man can donate sperm without establishing parental rights. For the statute to apply, the child at issue must have been conceived via “medical technology.” The state appeals court held that "the plain meaning of the term 'medical technology' does not encompass a kitchen implement such as a turkey baster."
