Cuban-American politicians are seeking to revise or eliminate a law that gives Cubans broader protections than any other immigrants arriving in the United States. So reports The New York Times.

The law, the Cuban Adjustment Act, was meant to safeguard Cuban refugees fleeing oppression from their Communist government. Its critics claim it’s being abused by people seeking economic—not political—refuge, and that President Obama’s recognition of the Cuban government as legitimate has made the law unnecessary.
