Pruett was sentenced under Jessica’s Law, Montana legislation that was enacted in 2007 to require stricter sentences for child molesters. Pruett had been involved in two other cases—one in which he was charged with taking indecent liberties and another in which he was accused of molesting a niece—but neither resulted in jail time.
The 11-year-old, who didn’t know she was pregnant until she was diagnosed at 32 weeks, gave birth in August.
