James Brady’s 2014 Death Ruled a Homicide Due to 1981 Shooting

The medical examiner’s office in Virginia has ruled that the recent death of James Brady, President Reagan’s press secretary, was a homicide. So reports the Washington Post.

According to the examiner, Brady’s death resulted from the gunshot wound he suffered in the assassination attempt on Reagan in 1981. Prosecutors would face several hurdles if they decided to file new charges against the gunman, John W. Hinckley Jr., who was found not guilty by reason of insanity and has been treated in a psychiatric hospital since his trial.
