N.J. Becomes 2nd State to Ban Gay Conversion Therapy

Republican N.J. Governor Chris Christie last week signed a law making it illegal for licensed therapists to use therapy to change the sexual orientation of minors. So reports USA Today.

 

The practice, known as "conversion" therapy, is against the law in only one other state—California. Gov. Christie—a likely 2016 presidential candidate who will have to win the favor of conservative Republicans to win early primary contests—has walked the line on gay issues, last year vetoing legislation that would have allowed same-sex marriage in New Jersey, but nevertheless maintaining that same-sex couples deserve equal legal protection and stating that he will support same-sex marriage if the voters approve it by referendum.
