A federal appeals court in San Francisco last week heard arguments over the constitutionality of a California law barring therapists from trying to change the sexual orientation of people younger than 18, the New York Times reports.
The three-judge panel that heard the arguments will now determine whether to continue a preliminary injunction delaying the law’s enforcement, which a federal district court judge granted in December. Lawyers involved in the case expect its resolution to take years.
