ACLU's Inmate Hep-C Class Action Reaches Settlement

Colorado approved a $41 million settlement in the wake of an American Civil Liberties Union class-action lawsuit regarding the care of 2,200 inmates with hepatitis C. So reports The Associated Press.

The state Department of Corrections is expected to spend $20.5 million over the next two fiscal years to treat infected prisoners. As a result of the settlement, inmates will no longer require alcohol and drug tests before being treated and treatments will not be denied for disciplinary reasons.
