N.H. Hospital Settles Psychiatric Staffing Lawsuit

Dartmouth-Hitchcock has agreed to credit New Hampshire $75,000 and pay up to $77,500 for a patient-care review to settle a lawsuit regarding understaffing at a psychiatric facility. So reports the Associated Press.

New Hampshire penned a $36 million contract with the private hospital system to provide mental health services, but rather than providing 11 psychiatrists, per the agreement, only staffed eight to 10.

Further, they failed to assign a "dedicated geriatric psychiatrist." Dartmouth-Hitchcock denied breaching contract and said the state's claims harm the hospital’s reputation. The patient care review stemming from the settlement will cover Nov. 1, 2016, to April 30, 2017.
