Am Law 100 Firm Sued by Dismissed Pregnant Contract Worker

A woman who worked as an office assistant at the law firm Arnold & Porter has filed a suit claiming she was dismissed after a probationary period because supervisors learned she was pregnant. So reports The Recorder.

The woman, Salena Wright, worked in the international law firm’s San Francisco office for $15 an hour. And despite getting positive feedback about her performance, was dismissed. Her suit, which names both Arnold & Porter and Williams Lea, the staffing agency that placed her, claims her Williams Lea supervisors urged her to keep her pregnancy a secret from the law firm’s employees. It’s not clear whether the firm itself was aware of Wright’s pregnancy.
