Time Attorney Relates to CBS' Julie Chen's Effort to Appear Less Ethnic

CBS anchor Julie Chen, who recently made waves speaking about undergoing surgery early in her career to appear less ethnic, has at least one attorney that can relate to her plight.

 

Chen made the revelations on her daytime show, The Talk. So reports The Daily Beast.

 

"[P]racticing law in various corporate settings for 15 years now, I learned early on that it was incredibly important to perfect the art of passing—that is, to downplay or, better yet, rid myself entirely of certain 'minority group' traits in an effort to blend seamlessly into mainstream corporate culture," wrote Helen Wan, a Chinese-American woman, who is associate general counsel at Time Inc.
